Bowel Screening

Bowel cancer is the third most common cancer in Scotland after lung and breast cancer. Every year almost 4000 people are diagnosed with the disease.

The Scottish Bowel Screening Programme will invite all men and women in Scotland between the ages of 50 to 74 for screening every two years. The programme has been rolled out across Scotland and is now available in all NHS Boards.

Don't miss the opportunity !

You take the test in the privacy of your own bathroom by collecting 3 samples within a 10 day period. And when you receive your bowel screening invitation in the post it will contain full instructions.

This screening programme is working because in this practice there have already been some patients who had had no symptoms at all yet the test has detected cancer at a very early stage and simple treatment has removed the cancer completely.

So if you receive your test kit in the post, do think seriously about completing the test and encourage your family members to complete theirs too.
